Alan has over 20 years experience in complex public and private corporate finance entities, directing large operations and generating successful turnaround situations within minimal time.  He has had quantifiable success in strategic analysis and planning of a broad range of real estate development, business development, corporate acquisitions, and large scale master planning.    He has a diverse background as both a Chief Financial Officer for an international public commercial real estate firm, as well as, the President and Chief Investment Officer for a commercial investment fund.

Most recently Alan was instrumental in the creation and approval of the Carolina Center for Foreign Investment, LLC (CCFI), which is the first U.S. Citizen and Immigration Service (USCIS) statewide designated EB-5 Regional Center for both North Carolina and South Carolina.  Alan works closely with the  states' Commerce Departments and local governments to help stimulate job creation utilizing the EB-5 Pilot Program and foreign investment.  CCFI encourages immigration through the EB-5 program, which specifically sets aside 3,000 visas annually for foreign investors who apply through a USCIS designated regional renter investment program.  An investor seeking an EB-5 Immigrant visa through a designated regional center must make a qualifying investment of $500,000 to $1 million and demonstrate that at least 10 jobs were directly or indirectly created through the investment (www.CarolinaRegionalCenter.com).

Alan is also the former President& Chief Investment officer for a commercial investment fund in excess of $400 million. The fund focused on development and large scale mixed-use master planning requiring strategic planning through public/private partnerships, as well as, joint ventures (one of which included International Paper, one of the largest land owners in the United States).  While managing the fund he worked extensively with the City of Aurora, Colorado on a 500+ acre final development plan requiring a quasi-governmental bond issuance which was sold to an institutional client 120 days after acquisition for a $7 million dollar profit.

He has worked on multiple mixed-use master planned developments throughout the southeast, all including national office and retail tenants.  He has worked with property-to-end users such as Bass Pro, Target, Kohl's, Wal-Mart, and Lend Lease.

While serving as Chief Financial Officer for Insignia/ESG, an international commercial brokerage and financial services firm  based in New York,  he was responsible for commercial operations, corporate acquisitions, SEC reporting and finance, whose  divisions included approximately 200 indirect reports.  During his 17 year tenure with Insignia he served in numerous roles managing operations, national administration, corporate services, property accounting, facilities management, human resources and information technology, which provided him the opportunity to be the executive lead for a $6 million technology consolidation.

While at Insignia/ESG, Inc. his work in mergers and acquisitions involved acquiring over 25 companies and 10,000 employees national and internationally. Alan later worked closely with CB Richard Ellis during CBRE's acquisition of Insignia.
