RESPONSIBILITY TO THE TEAM
Dee Smith serves as a member of the Land Group specializing in the analysis and
marketing of investment properties, traditional commercial properties and vacant
land of all types. His activities include consulting in matters of real estate
development and marketing of development properties.
CAREER SUMMARY
Dee has worked in developing, constructing and marketing commercial and residential
properties since 1972. Prior to joining Grubb & Ellis|The Furman Co. in December,
1997, he was President/Owner of The Smith Companies, a Greenville, South Carolina
firm that was responsible for bringing to market commercial and residential projects
with values in excess of $200,000,000 over a 26 year period.
Prior to joining the real estate industry, Dee was an aerospace engineer involved
in designing jet and rocket propulsion systems with General Electric and Pratt
& Whitney.
EDUCATION
Dee has received a BS in Engineering degree from Tennessee Technological University.
PROFESSIONAL COURSES, AFFILIATIONS, INTERESTS
Dee served as Vice Chairman on the South Carolina State Housing and Development
Authority at the will of three South Carolina Governors for 13 years, ending in
1996. A billion-dollar issuer of housing bonds, the Authority is charged with
making affordable housing available for low-income families.
Dee is a CCIM candidate. He is married and has four children. |
