Steve Smith serves as the Vice-President of Grubb & Ellis|The Furman Co.,
specializing in landlord and tenant representation, acquisition and disposition
of office properties, and development consultation.
CAREER SUMMARY
Steve has been involved in the commercial real estate industry since 1985. His
first nine years were spent in Charleston, SC; where he specialized in commercial
sales and leasing. In 1993, he moved to Greenville and joined Grubb & Ellis|The
Furman Co. In 1997, he was named Vice President of the Office Group. In December
2000, he became a principal in the firm and was named Vice President of Grubb
& Ellis|The Furman Co.
Steve has proven his expertise through his ability to provide a variety of superior
services combined with an extensive knowledge of the market. An example of this
was his representation of Kahn Development in leasing the Landmark Building, a
375,000 square foot office building in downtown Greenville. Since 1998, Steve
has leased over 200,000 square feet in this building.Some of Steve's other major
clients include AIMCO (Apartment Investment and Management Co.), The Ogletree
Law Firm and The South Financial Group.
EDUCATION
Steve has received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from
the College of Charleston, Charleston, South Carolina. He has also completed numerous
hours of graduate-level coursework as part of his SIOR achievements.
PROFESSIONAL COURSES, AFFILIATIONS, INTERESTS
Steve is a member of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors and has been
a Circle of Excellence honoree. He is a member of the Greater Greenville Association
of Realtors where he received the Commercial Realtor of the Year Award in 1999.
He also serves on the Real Estate Economic Development Committee for the Greater
Greenville Chamber of Commerce. He enjoys running and golf. Steve is married and
has two children.
